i am goin to try out some 155s this year in coon trail and was wondering what you guys and girls use i may even do a few bucket sets up in the trees with 220s . pics are always nice. with a trap as small as 5 inch dia. how high should it be off the ground. would it help to use like cracked corn under the trap to attrect them or is the trail enough

I use square buckets and 220's. A little Jack Mackerel inside and a little fish oil leading into the bucket. If I use a body grip in a trail, it's a 160 or 220 on a stabilizer. Make sure the bottom of the trap is off the ground a couple of inches. Also make sure there are no dogs in the area when you use 220's. (had a 35 pound beaver stick his head in a 160 set in a trail once). I have never placed a 220 in a tree unless it was a log crossing over a creek. Depends on your state regulations.

ya snake i cant use anything bigger then a 155 unless its under water or 4 feet off the ground so i figured i would take a bucket nudge it into the crotch of a tree then make a running pole up to it and set a 220 in it. figured i might pick up a fisher or grey fox also .

A couple of things I do with 220 buckets. Drill 1/4" holes in the bottom to allow water to drain and I make a small 1/4" hardware cloth basket for a bait holder. I screw the basket to the inside back of the bucket. Makes the coon work the bucket longer and slows the mice robbers.

Triggers up/dog on the bottom and bend at a 45 degree angle to the rear. I have had the best luck with the coon hitting the trigger with their chest. Yes on the V.

Ive got a few pictures below of coons taken in 155s, I havent caught too many in them so far but from what has worked so far, using trail sets, is setting them with the bottom of the trap 3-4 inches off the ground and either a circle trigger or trigger off to the side to give an open looking hole through the trap. Seems that they work better in trails going through thick stuff..the more open trails they go around or back out of the trail.
